September Birthstone Stud Earrings – Lapis Lazuli, Gold Vermeil

Lapis lazuli brings a deep, inky blue to this pair of everyday studs, each stone flecked with soft traces of gold where pyrite runs through it. Set simply on a gold vermeil post, they're easy to wear from morning to night.

Lapis lazuli is one of September's two birthstones, alongside sapphire, so these make sense as a gift for a September birthday, or any occasion tied to someone born that month. They also work well as a way for someone to wear their own birthstone, or for a parent marking a child's birth month.

Each stone is a genuine, natural lapis lazuli, cut and polished as a smooth oval cabochon rather than faceted, since lapis is an opaque stone rather than a clear one. You may notice small variations in colour and the pattern of gold flecks from one pair to the next — that's part of what comes with a real stone rather than a manufactured one. The stud itself is finished in gold vermeil: a layer of 18kt gold over sterling silver, giving the warmth of gold with a lighter, everyday feel.
