Wedding rings in solid gold and platinum
Every ring in this collection is made in solid metal — 14ct yellow gold, 18ct yellow gold or platinum — and hallmarked at Dublin Castle.
14ct gold is the harder of the two golds and our most popular choice. It holds a polish well and stands up to being worn every day without much thought.
18ct gold has a higher gold content and a richer, warmer colour. It is a softer metal, which some people prefer for the way it wears in over the years.
Platinum is naturally white the whole way through, so it never needs re-plating the way white gold does. It is the densest of the three and has a noticeable weight on the hand.
The gold we use is recycled. The rings are hallmarked at the Assay Office in Dublin Castle, which is the oldest continuously operating assay office in the world — an independent guarantee, struck into the metal, of exactly what it is.
Plain gold wedding rings
Most people looking for a wedding ring are looking for a plain one. There are more differences between plain rings than you would expect, and nearly all of them come down to the profile — the shape of the ring in cross-section. It decides how a ring feels rather than how it looks.
Every ring we make is rounded on the inside, so it sits on the finger rather than gripping it, and goes on and off easily. Some jewellers sell that separately as a comfort fit. We think it is simply how a wedding ring should be made, so it is on all of them.
What changes between our rings is the outside.
Court is rounded on the outside as well as the inside. It is the easiest shape to wear every day, and it is what most of the rings here are. If you are unsure, this is the one.
Flat court is flat across the outside. A cleaner, more defined edge on top, with the same rounded inside.
Soft flat court sits between the two — a flat court with a gentle curve across the top, so it catches the light more softly than a true flat does.
Bevelled court has the edges chamfered flat. It reads a little squarer on the hand without changing the way it sits.
Width changes the feel more than anything else. At 2.5mm a ring is slender and sits close against an engagement ring. At 4mm it has real presence. Anything wider again reads as a statement.
Diamond wedding rings
The diamond rings here are set flush rather than raised — bezel, channel, pavé or rub-over — so there is nothing standing above the surface to catch on clothes or work loose. That matters in a ring you intend to keep on.
You can choose lab-grown or natural diamonds on most designs, both G colour and VS1 clarity. Lab-grown stones are chemically and optically identical to mined diamonds; the difference is where they came from and what they cost.
Men's wedding rings
There are six men's rings in the collection, from a plain 4mm band to a hand-hammered surface that is marked differently on every single one. Five of them have a matching women's ring in the same design, in a narrower width.
Matching wedding ring sets
Five designs come as a pair — The Always, The For Keeps, The Hand in Hand, The Two of Us and The One Path. Each is the same ring in two widths, usually 2.5mm and 4mm. Both can be engraved inside with the same words, which is the part most couples end up caring about most.
Engraving
Engraving inside the ring is included. A date, a name, initials, or a few words in a choice of eight fonts. Irish is popular — mo chroí, go deo, grá. So is a set of coordinates, or the words you said on the day.
Finding your ring size
Our rings are made in European sizes 50 to 70. If you are unsure, we would rather you measured properly than guessed — you can book in for a ring sizing in our shop in Skerries. Click the 'book a viewing' button on any ring page.
