The Element Birthstone Collection is Lulu + Belle's edit of twelve birthstones — one genuine, natural gemstone for every birth month, each available as a Pendant Necklace and a matching pair of Stud Earrings, with a third piece, the Dainty Pendant, for building a necklace up one birthstone at a time. Every stone here is real: a genuine garnet, a genuine amethyst, a genuine lapis lazuli, rather than a crystal or glass substitute standing in for the colour. That means no two stones look quite identical — a small natural variation in tone or clarity from one piece to the next is part of wearing a real gemstone, not a flaw to correct for.
Some birthstone charts list more than one traditional stone for a single month — our own birthstone guide covers that fuller history. The Element Collection takes a simpler approach: one genuine stone per month, so what's below is exactly what you can wear.
January — Garnet. Deep red. Traditionally linked to friendship, trust and lasting connection.
February — Amethyst. Soft violet. Traditionally associated with clarity and calm.
March — Aquamarine. Light blue. Traditionally linked to courage, named for its sea-coloured blue.
April — Crystal. Clear and bright. Traditionally regarded as a symbol of clarity and light.
May — Emerald. Green and clear. Traditionally associated with wisdom, growth and renewal.
June — Rainbow Moonstone. Soft white with a flash of blue. Traditionally linked to new beginnings and balance.
July — Ruby. Deep red. Traditionally associated with love and vitality.
August — Peridot. Olive green. Traditionally associated with strength and positivity.
September — Lapis Lazuli. Deep, inky blue, flecked with soft traces of gold where natural pyrite runs through it. Traditionally associated with truth and inner wisdom.
October — Opal. Milky and pale, with small flashes of green. Traditionally associated with faithfulness and confidence.
November — Citrine. Warm and honeyed. Traditionally associated with warmth and optimism.
December — Turquoise. Smooth and sky-blue. Traditionally associated with protection and good fortune.
Once you know the month, the Element Collection gives you two ways to wear it, in the same genuine stone.
The Pendant Necklace (Gold Vermeil €104 / Sterling Silver €84) sets a single birthstone on an adjustable 16–18 inch chain — the gold vermeil version hangs from a 14kt gold-filled chain, and the silver version from a sterling silver one. The Stud Earrings (Gold Vermeil €59 / Sterling Silver €55) set the same genuine, oval-cut stone simply on a post, small enough for everyday wear. Choose the same birth month in both, and you get a matching necklace-and-earrings set in identical stone, not just a similar colour — our January pieces, for instance, are cut from the same genuine garnet and finished in the same gold vermeil, and every other month in the collection follows the same pairing.

Not every birthstone piece needs to be finished the day you buy it. The Dainty Pendant (€45, in gold vermeil or sterling silver) is a smaller, single birthstone pendant sold on its own, without a chain, so you choose a chain to go with it separately. It's built to start small: one birthstone for one person, with room to add more as your own story grows.
Because each Dainty Pendant is sold alone, adding to it means choosing another one in the next month's stone and wearing the two together, layered on their own chains rather than slid onto a single one.
If you already own a Lulu + Belle chain that takes slide-on charms, our Individual Birthstone Charm (€25) is a different, simpler option — designed to add a birthstone to a chain you already have, rather than starting a new one. Worth checking your chain is genuinely slide-on compatible first, since older chains aren't always the right style. The Dainty Pendant, by contrast, is its own piece from the start.

Gold vermeil is a layer of gold over sterling silver — on the Pendant Necklace and Dainty Pendant, that's the pendant itself, paired with a 14kt gold-filled chain (a thicker, more hard-wearing gold layer bonded to a base metal core); on the Stud Earrings, the whole piece is vermeil. It gives you the warmth of gold at a lower price than solid gold, though it's worth keeping away from perfume, lotion and water where you reasonably can, to help the gold layer last. Sterling silver pieces are solid silver throughout — a little less expensive and a cooler, more understated finish.
Gold vermeil costs more than sterling silver on the Pendant Necklace and the Stud Earrings; the Dainty Pendant is priced the same in either metal. Neither is more genuine than the other; the stone is the same real, natural gemstone either way.

Are the birthstones in the Element Collection genuine, natural gemstones?
Yes. Every stone in the Pendant Necklace, Stud Earrings and Dainty Pendant is genuine and natural — a real garnet for January, a real amethyst for February, and so on. Because each is a real stone, small natural variations in tone or clarity between pieces are normal.
What's the difference between the Pendant Necklace, the Stud Earrings and the Dainty Pendant?
The Pendant Necklace (€104 Gold Vermeil / €84 Sterling Silver) and Stud Earrings (€59 Gold Vermeil / €55 Sterling Silver) are finished pieces in a single birthstone, designed as a matching set. The Dainty Pendant (€45, either metal) is a smaller pendant sold without a chain, designed to be built up over time.
Can I get the necklace and earrings in the exact same stone?
Yes — the same birth month gives you the identical genuine gemstone in both, every month in the collection.
Should I choose gold vermeil or sterling silver?
Both use the same stone. Vermeil is gold over sterling silver and costs more on the Pendant Necklace and Stud Earrings, though the Dainty Pendant is priced the same either way; silver is solid throughout. It comes down to which finish you'd wear every day.
How do I add to the Dainty Pendant later?
Choose another Dainty Pendant in a new birth month and wear it layered alongside the first.
Why does this chart show only one stone per month, when some guides list more than one?
