September Birthstone Pendant Necklace – Lapis Lazuli, Gold

A single lapis lazuli pendant, deep inky blue with soft traces of gold where pyrite runs through it, set in gold vermeil and hung from a medium 14kt gold filled chain. The chain adjusts between 16 and 18 inches, so you can wear it closer to the collarbone or with a little more drop, whichever feels right.

Lapis lazuli is one of September's two birthstones, alongside sapphire, which makes this a natural gift for a September birthday, but it works just as well as a way to mark any birth month that matters to you — your own, a child's, or someone close to you.

Each stone is a genuine, natural lapis lazuli, polished as a smooth cabochon rather than faceted, since lapis is an opaque stone rather than a clear one. You may notice small variations in colour and the pattern of gold flecks from one piece to the next — that's what comes with a real stone rather than a manufactured one. The pendant measures approximately 5mm x 12mm and is finished in gold vermeil (2.5 microns of gold over sterling silver).
