Inspirational Jewellery + Your Words for 2020

So we ran a competition in January where you had the chance to win a piece of inspirational jewellery with your personal word for 2020 stamped on one of our personalised disc necklaces. We simply asked you to tell us what your 'intentional word' is for 2020 and why you chose it. We were overwhelmed with hundreds of entries and really moved by the stories you told us, the challenges you have faced and the hope you have for the year ahead ! Our Tips to Beat the January Blues

January is a funny old month. You're back to work after the Christmas and New Year's celebrations or back to the routine of school runs and play dates and there is often so much month left at the end of the money after the excesses of Christmas. And right now the weather is COLD... really cold, like wear a pair of woolly socks and a jumper over your pyjamas in bed cold. It can make you want to hibernate until Spring. And round about the middle to end of January you may be re-assessing your New Year's resolutions and feeling that they have been a little over ambitious now that you haven't managed a daily gym session or to cook dinner from scratch every day since the New Year.

Christmas Open Studio Saturdays

We really hope you can join us for 'Open Studio Saturdays' in the run up to Christmas this year. We will run the Open Studio for four Saturdays where there will be lots of Christmas treats and refreshments, a Christmas playlist, you can meet the makers and have a touch, feel and try on of the jewellery. The idea is that this will be a completely relaxed way to tick off some Christmas gifts without the stress of Christmas crowds and everything available is made right here in our North Dublin studio, by our small team of makers. It is the perfect chance to find the perfect chain length, get a custom made bracelet or pair of earrings and we will be giving a 10% discount on all orders on Open Studio days aswell as offering free luxury gift-wrap to make Christmas gifting a doddle ! We got some lovely news at Lulu + Belle this September when we found out that we had been awarded in the 'Too Good to Miss' category in this year's Jewel Fund. A Wire-Wrapped Jewellery Making Masterclass

This month I took a lovely full day of indulgent, creativity to take part in a wire-wrapping jewellery masterclass. I have a long obsession with wrapping pieces of wire around other pieces of wire ! I've taken that love of wire-wrapping into the jewellery making classes and workshops that we teach in our North Dublin studio, teaching beginners wire-wrapping techniques for making earrings, necklaces and bracelets.

Six Months in the Lulu + Belle Studio

So this week marks 6 months since we opened the Lulu + Belle jewellery studio and we are thinking back over the last half year and the changes in the way we work.

We had been looking for a studio space for over a year and had visited a whole range of commercial buildings from offices, to shops to light-industrial type units. A jewellery making workshop has a few distinct needs - in our case one of the main ones was that we needed to be able to make noise as our process was pretty noisy but we didn't want to feel isolated in a business park somewhere !!! We also hoped to stay close to the beach (wish-list more than strict need) and wanted to be 'in the middle of things'.
